Weather report for fri, 2-27

I seem to have my hours turned around finally and other than some random nose bleeds finally seem over the flu. The last couple of weeks have been hard or week was so sick I was borderline delirious and all while taking care of a baby bird that needs to be out of her cage at least two hours a day.

I tried my hardest to get her out for thirty minutes every three hours but there are times when I was far too sick. Though she at least has been out of her cage an hour every day. I don’t feel completely unredeemable but am happy to be back on schedule.

The goals for the day are to write some for the grim metal bedlam rulebook and read some more of the lord of the rings.

I am still trying actively to cut back on how many blogposts I share a day though… I feel it’s good for me to share more keeps my brain having some traction on reality by having to process what is going on instead of going numb to the iniquity of the world.

On another note I have decided to make a separate game out of the original design for descent into the dark (the game where you lead a squad of dwarves against goblins on a chess board). There is so much thematically there I think it would be a waste to not make a twenty page game out of it.

plus it gave me an excuse to buy old school style 28mm miniatures of goblins and dwarves from alternative armies. I really enjoy the sculpts and I am actually very nostalgic for them hand sculpted metal cast mono minis. It is quite literally my happiest memories as a young lad (5 to 8 years old) playing with ancient lead solders.

Also bought three sets of the boutique range of the Halcyon line from alternative armies. Which is about as close to official miniatures for grim metal bedlam as there will be. The way I picture the science fantasy setting is very similar to the line and these sculpts. Very whim-dark.

I have been learning how to sculpt in blender to hopefully someday release some 3d print stls for the game. But in an ideal world I would be able to have hand sculpted metal cast miniatures instead.

I think I could almost sculpt good enough to make the miniatures with green stuff but I also think since I have no experience with mold making that it would be a very long time (at least another five yeas) till I could cast white metal minis.

I would love to write an epic novel about the setting someday. Though it just is not a priority right now (more pressing things afoot as the apocalypse nears! [like learning how to cast metal toy solders])

Peace and love.

Be safe out there friends.
