Storm crow: or, a glimmering in the dark (Demo rules)
Storm crow: or, a glimmering in the dark.
What you will need: 4-d6 and a D-20 dice, at least five dwarves models and at least ten goblins models. These should be about 28mm but as a grid based game doesn't really matter. A piece of paper for book keeping and a pencil.
Setup: acquire a chess board and place on level surface. Take 4 d-6 and hold in a closed hand four inches above the chess board. Open hand and align the dice without rotating them to or centered on the nearest square. The d-6 represent treasure chest and the number they rolled is how many how how many hundreds of coins are in the chest.
Deployment: you wills be facing 4 + 1-d6 goblins roll a d6 and get number of models acquired.
Place the goblins any on the first two rows of the opposite end of the side of the board your dwarves will deploy. Place the dwarves anywhere on the first row of the opposite side of the board of the goblins.
The point of the game is to get away with as much treasure as you can without dying. The goblin's Al is march for there movement score straight forward until ether treasure or a dwarf is within four square of them then they move towards it. If next to a treasure dice will guard it till they die. If more then two squares from a treasure dice they retreat off the board after losing a half of there health. When a dwarf moves to the same tile as treasure they acquire but must retreat off the board. The game is over when you have all four treasures or killed all the goblins or died.
The core of the game is roll d-20 and add a modifier 12 or more it was a success 11 or less was a failure. If attacking a 1 it is a fumble and the attacking unit checks a karma box if three karma boxes are checked the dwarf loses there nerve and retires from plundering the dark.
Goblins stats are the same 4-hp 3-m (movement) +2 on attacking rolls.
Every time a goblin dies flip a coin if tailed nothing happens if head two more goblins appear at the deployment zone of there side of the board till a max of 10 have deployed per cavern.
Stats blocks of dwarves are Hp movement Attack and defense.
Hp: your hit points starts at six. If you add to this stats it raises the number of hit points at The start of each cavern. So...+ 3 would be 9 hit points.
Movement 2 + modifier: if modifier was negative -1 you could move one square if + 3 you could move four.
Attack goblins always do 1 damage per successful attack dwarves do the difference between there target number and the success roll a natural 20 would do 8 damage to a gobling (instant kill)
Dwarves roll and add modifier if a failure they take one damage.
Stats line for dwarves +2-2 +1 0 or +3-3 +1 0 pick one stat block and assign the number as desired to the stats.
