Ramblings on politics and art.

Been thinking a bunch about the role of the artist in relationship to politics lately. The main positive of getting involved in politics is that if you are an artist is sometimes you can write something that inspires someone to act on a conviction but sadly in my own experience you can not change there belief. It also does not help that people confuse celebrities for an artist, but I digress.

Which removes a lot of the responsibility from the artist, since mostly you are preaching to the quire, or in the very the least your congregation (now is the time for your cold laughter).  The saddest thing of all in our culture is when the ambiguity of art is written off by a conviction that painfully rears it's head or removes any doubt as to how racist or sexist your peers can be.
Example if you hate mad max fury road because you believe it is "feminist propaganda!" then you are probably a misogynist, or at the very least a sexist. If however, you don't care for the movie because of its indirect way of characterization through action as apposed exposition than you are probably an idiot (now it is my turn for cold laughter).
I guess what I am trying to get at is you can be whatever you want to be, and so be it. But you can't stop people like me from calling you what you are. I always have a fascination with why Trump supporters are offended at being called racist and misogynists. While supporting someone who you have to proactively delude yourself into believing what you say when you make yourself say "that it was taken out of context" and "he just isn't politically correct." Or, "those are allegations, not facts." But then all you have to do is point out he has called white supremacist "very fine people." and that he has not only been accused of sexual assault but brags about his ability to get away with it because he is famouse on recordings.
If you are a Nazi at least have the courage and conviction to say that you are...but then again being a nazi I or anyone else shouldn't expect you to be decent. But don't overthink it when decent people call you out for being one. No one can make you take responsibility for your opionons, but we can hold you accountable for your actions.
