ten records: my favorites

nirvana - in utero: this is the record that got me into music. plain and simple, catchy and rocking. it means more then it should, but why is that a bad thing?
slipknot - all hope is gone: the definitive dumb heavy record replacing iggy pops finest moments on my top ten. they scream they thrash and they get laid, don't let the reviews let you miss out on this one.
mgmt - Oracular Spectacular: they go farther then the stones as far as being gangster goes and they wrote catchier songs. yeah they are tricksters but so are magicians and our parents.
flipper - love: emo as irony and irony as the truth. if Jim Dodge fronted a punk band they would be smarter then flipper but not as rock n' roll
misfits - static age: melodic as anything with attitude and points for style. musically it may be the definitive rock n roll record .
killing joke - 2003 self titled: not as stupid and nearly as heavy as slipknot the go to record for those seeking raw power and dignity.
the descendants - cool to be you: melodic hardcore that tell the love story of a man his wife and the t.v. reruns they watch on his couch. we should all hope to be that lucky
joy division - closer: rock as art. or simply reaching farther then your context allows. the pursuit of truth in light of ignorance.
christian death - only theater of pain: the soundtrack of zombies making love. dead girls don't say no. and neither will your heart to this record.
pere ubu - the modern dance: irrational information contained as beauty. irrational information confronted and enjoyed as pleasure.

...and now....a short story for context. When i was a kid i dreamed of a way to be free of the chain of cause and effect. i looked around at all the other little thumb suckers and thought "no money no friends!?!" then i thought to my self a paraphrase of yolandi from die antwoord as looked at the faces of these thumb sucking finger fucking bitches and said "you are all going to grow up to be boring as fuck!?!"...the end.
