Greed hunter update
Greed Hunter started off as a hex crawl with a large gamebook, then
became a video game-like stardew valley meets spelunky. and is now
becoming a predominantly solo co-op game inspired by (enhanced) advanced
Heroquest, Warhammerquest (1995), and Blackstone fortress and though I
have not played shadows and brimstone I have been studying the rules
because it seems to be from the same cloth as the others.
After
almost four years of development of a setting now it is just about
finding the right mechanisms to bring out the theme of the game.
I
had given up on making a game in the setting and was just playing with
cannibalizing it for my novels and novellas. but I bought some blank
components to play (enhanced) advanced heroquest and ended started
modifying it because without the mini figures most of the game's
workshop flavor was gone so decided to reskin the game to suit my
setting I have created. now I have changed most of the combat systems
and am really just relying upon using some of the tables and aspects of
the town system from Warhammer quest.
This is already a fairly
long post I will include below some of the setting info from the rule
book I am using for any who are interested and can share what I am doing
with the system later if anyone is interested (not sure if this semi
blog post was right to share here. lol)
There comes a day
when what is false seems real and ash rains from the sky, a marked child
(the dusk child) shall mark an age of warlords and the rise of what was
forgotten. and decisions in heaven will make new rules for hell. seek
and you will find, for you are a Greed hunter, from the greed guild.
The
reversed territory is a world-sized terrarium created by the true fae. a
biome without light except in the center where it turns on every 12
hours as if someone turned on a flashlight on a black painted bottle
over the part you drink from.
the walls of the world are made of stone with mines and cultures living in the caves but are always unpenetrable after a point.
in
the center of the world just below the light is four towers surrounding
a large castle known as Castle of the aether soul. no one knows what it
is but giving its location just below the light most of the creatures
think the two are related so for sixty thousand years a guild of
treasure hunters has developed all seeking the light. they go through
the chambers and dungeons of the castle of aether soul that are alive or
haunted but forever changing. not knowing what lies behind any given
door they head into the darkness so that they may ultimately escape it.
