The Maxx: or, we all have problems....

"To be first in the soil, which erupts in the coil, of trees veins and grasses all brought to a boil. Wait, it's different somehow, cause this land isn't mine, and my brain has been freed, I'm not thinking in... poetry stuff."  - the Maxx
When I was a kid I saw the Maxx, my uncle had taped the whole show but the ending of the last episode because he had the timer set wrong on the VHS player. But the show blew me away, broadened my feeble child mind and ruined me to society, apparently at least. You see, the show is about a mentally ill middle-aged guy who idealizes his caseworker and thinks he is a superhero, sound familiar? That is what I thought when my little brother pointed it out to me. The show and comic that it is based on gets typically ripped a new one because of there freshmen year psychology token deconstructions of the charecters, but it makes some good points. I have read the whole comic but found it's desire to make the magic real (spoilers!) somewhat against the purpose of the original early issues and prefer the ending of the t.v. Show where the Maxx takes off his mask and becomes one more normal person with the common problems that come with the territory. That being said there is nothing wrong with those annoying, banal things it seems that is just part of being a healthy member of society. With no delusions of helping others or ambition to do so. Me I sleep in a box (hope you got that refrence.) and idealize my caseworker and therapist. And I am learning not to milk my schizophrenia, if only because I feel I increasingly have no reason to lower peoples expectations of myself. I have problems, we all have issues, but we don't have to be mean... and there is liberation in merely not being a jerk to one another. And with a simple choice, we can be most excellent to each other, just saying.
